Prevention & Health Manager – Warehousing & Retail – Oostakker



As (minimum) Level 2 qualified Health and Prevention Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring our client's warehouses and stores are safe and secure places to work.

• You will provide expert advice, guidance and support at operational levels to identify upcoming challenges and risks.
• You will build excellent working relationships with managers and staff around the business and coach and advise them to minimize risks and develop practical cost effective Health & Safety systems and solutions.
• You will ensure that the organization meets all Health and Prevention statutory obligations and liaise with external agencies, advisors and enforcement officers.
• You will create an efficient and professional Health and Safety advisory service across the the organization, delivering assurance and compliance in critical processes, and dealing with the contractor and supplier frameworks, ensuring they are compliant.
• You will be responsible for the development plan for Health and Safety risk management, identify indicators and outcomes for compliant Health and Safety performance and manage any Health and Safety audits/inspections, monitoring and ensuring completion of corrective actions within the organization.
• You will review, amend and implement business policies to ensure your employer offers a safe and legal working environment for our colleagues and customers.
• You will manage the Health and Safety requirement of new store openings ensuring compliance and risk reduction.
• You will deliver a robust Health and Safety training program to relevant colleagues.


• Minimum Level 2 Health & Safety qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within a multi-site retail or warehouse environment (with experience with negotiating/communicating in a CPBW as a must have)
• Proven experience in a multi risk environment.
• Highly analytical and organized with excellent attention to detail.
• IT literate, with excellent Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint skills, and an aptitude to become quickly familiar with new systems.
• Able to display a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
• Problem solver.
• Very good communication skills in Dutch, English and French.
The position is primarily based in Gent-Zeehaven (Oostakker) but will include occasional travel to stores throughout Belgium.
The position reports to the Senior HR Director Europe.


Our client is a worldwide supplier of professional hair and beauty products. In Belgium they have 3 warehouses, more than 35 large stores and 1 European HQ in region Gent-Zeehaven.
